Establishing
As parents, we want nothing but the best for our kids. While we may, or may not, be able to provide them with the best education, vacations, experiences, we can give them the best that life truly has to offer in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
When we commit to raising our children according to God's Word, and doing all that we can to introduce them to Him, we are giving them the best thing we could possibly give them. Everything else that we give our children in life is short-lived, but salvation is for eternity. When you dedicate your child, there is nothing magical taking place. This has nothing to do with their salvation, but rather it has to d with you, the parent. This is simply you proclaiming to your church family that you are committed to raising your child to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. It's a commitment on your part to not only point the way, but to model the way. As your church, we are committed to walking alongside you in this journey. The responsibility is yours, but it's always wise to have others on the journey with us, especially those who have gone before us. We certainly don't have the answers for every situation, but as a church community, we can certainly pool an exceptional amount of knowledge and wisdom for parenting. That infused with the Holy Spirit will certainly give us the momentum we need to get through this journey of parenting. To help cast some vision for your first steps, we have two videos that we'd like you to watch. At the end of each video, there is a short homework assignment for you to complete. Don't worry, you won't have to write any term papers, although it's not a bad idea. In the end, we want to help you determine who you want your child to become and how you plan to help lead them to that point. |
